Samsung Unveils The Freestyle+, an AI-Powered Portable Projector Built for Anywhere Viewing

LAS VEGAS, 2 JAN. 2026 —

Samsung Electronics has announced the global launch of The Freestyle+, its latest AI-powered portable projector, ahead of CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The new model expands on the original Freestyle concept with smarter AI-driven picture optimization, higher brightness, and a more seamless all-in-one entertainment experience.

Positioned as a projector that adapts to people’s lifestyles rather than fixed spaces, The Freestyle+ is designed for flexible viewing across living rooms, bedrooms, outdoor settings, and temporary spaces—requiring minimal setup or manual adjustment.

“The Freestyle+ reflects Samsung’s vision to create displays that adapt naturally to how people live and move between spaces,” said Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “By combining true portability with intelligent AI that optimizes both the environment and the content, The Freestyle+ makes it easier to enjoy a consistent, high-quality experience wherever you are.”

AI That Lets Users Point, Place, and Play

At the center of The Freestyle+ is AI OptiScreen, Samsung’s AI-powered picture optimization system designed to automatically adjust projection quality based on the surrounding environment.

AI OptiScreen includes several adaptive features that work in real time:

  • 3D Auto Keystone, which automatically corrects image distortion even on uneven or angled surfaces such as corners or curtains
  • Real-Time Focus, continuously maintaining image sharpness as the projector is moved or rotated
  • Screen Fit, which adjusts the projection area when used with compatible screen accessories
  • Wall Calibration, analyzing wall color and surface patterns to reduce visual distortion and maintain accurate color reproduction

These features allow users to set up the projector quickly without manual calibration, making projection viable in spaces traditionally considered unsuitable.

The viewing experience is further enhanced by Vision AI Companion, Samsung’s screen-based AI platform that integrates an upgraded Bixby assistant with AI services from global partners. This enables more natural voice interaction, content discovery, and contextual recommendations directly on the projector.

Designed for Everyday Portability

The Freestyle+ retains Samsung’s compact cylindrical design, making it easy to move between rooms or pack for travel. With 430 ISO lumens, it delivers nearly double the brightness of the previous generation, improving clarity in everyday lighting conditions.

Its 180-degree rotating design supports projection onto walls, ceilings, and floors without additional mounts, allowing users to create flexible viewing setups that adapt throughout the day—from watching shows on the wall to projecting visuals onto the ceiling at night.

Samsung says the design goal was to remove the friction traditionally associated with projection, letting users focus on content rather than setup.

Built-In Streaming, Gaming, and Immersive Sound

The Freestyle+ is designed to function as a fully standalone entertainment device. Built-in access to Samsung TV Plus, certified streaming services, and Samsung Gaming Hub allows users to stream movies, play cloud-based games, and explore content without connecting external hardware.

Audio is handled by a built-in 360-degree speaker, engineered to deliver room-filling sound from a compact form factor. For expanded audio setups, Q-Symphony enables synchronized playback with compatible Samsung soundbars, creating a richer and more immersive soundstage.

Availability and CES Showcase

Samsung will showcase The Freestyle+ at CES 2026, running from January 6 to 9 in Las Vegas. A phased global rollout is planned for the first half of 2026, with availability varying by region.

With its combination of AI-driven automation, portability, and integrated entertainment, The Freestyle+ reflects Samsung’s broader strategy of making displays more adaptive, personal, and usable beyond traditional living room setups.
