Missing Nancy Guthrie: FBI Releases Nest Camera Video as DNA and Suspect Clues Deepen
By Harshit
TUCSON, ARIZONA — FEBRUARY 17, 2026
The investigation into the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has entered its third week, as federal authorities released doorbell camera footage showing a masked individual outside her Tucson home on the morning she vanished. The video, recovered from a Nest security camera system, is now considered one of the most important pieces of evidence in a case that has drawn national attention.
Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen on January 31, 2026, before she disappeared from her residence in Arizona’s Catalina Foothills. Authorities believe she was taken against her will, leaving behind her phone and critical medications.

The newly released footage shows a masked person wearing gloves and carrying a backpack approaching Guthrie’s front door. In the video, the individual appears to tamper with the home’s security camera before walking away.
Investigators described the person as a male approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with an average build. He was wearing a black Ozark Trail Hiker backpack, which authorities believe could help identify him through retail purchase records.
Officials said the suspect appeared to be familiar with the camera’s location, suggesting the crime may have been planned.
DNA Evidence and Gloves Offer New Leads
A major breakthrough came when investigators discovered multiple gloves near Guthrie’s home. One glove contained DNA and appeared to match the type worn by the suspect in the video.
However, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that DNA tested so far does not match any profiles in the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), a national database containing millions of records.
Authorities also clarified that most gloves recovered belonged to search teams working in the area, but forensic testing continues on key evidence.
Officials said DNA recovered from inside the home is still being analyzed.

Family Cleared, Emotional Appeals Continue
Investigators officially cleared Nancy Guthrie’s family members, including her children and their spouses, as suspects. Sheriff Nanos called speculation about their involvement “cruel” and confirmed they have fully cooperated.
Savannah Guthrie has posted multiple emotional messages asking for her mother’s safe return.
“It’s never too late to do the right thing,” she said in a recent video message directed at whoever may be responsible.
The FBI has received tens of thousands of tips and raised the reward to $100,000 for information leading to her recovery or an arrest.
Investigation Expands With No Confirmed Motive

Authorities have conducted several searches, including operations at nearby homes and the seizure of a vehicle believed to be connected to the investigation. So far, no arrests have been made.
Investigators say they do not yet have a confirmed motive and are continuing to pursue multiple leads.
Law enforcement believes public assistance will be critical in solving the case.
