FBI Releases New Photos and Videos in Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie

TUCSON, ARIZONA, FEBRUARY 10, 2026 — 9:40 PM EDT
Federal investigators have released new surveillance photos and videos showing a masked individual on the porch of the Tucson home of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, who disappeared earlier this month.
The images, made public Tuesday by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, are the most significant visual evidence released so far in a case that has drawn national attention and intensified concern about Guthrie’s safety.
Masked Figure Seen on Porch Before Disappearance
The newly released material includes surveillance photos and two short videos showing a person wearing a mask, gloves, and a backpack standing on the porch of Guthrie’s home in Tucson during the early morning hours of February 1 — the same day she was reported missing.
One 27-second video shows the individual walking up to the front door and raising a gloved hand toward a home security camera before leaving the porch. A second 14-second clip shows the person facing the camera with a flashlight held in their mouth, then covering the camera lens with vegetation that investigators believe is prairie brush.
Law enforcement sources said the behavior suggests the individual knew the camera was there and intentionally attempted to disable or obscure it. Investigators also believe the person may have been armed, possibly carrying a gun positioned at the front of their belt.
Recovered From Backend Data
Authorities said the images were recovered from “residual data located in backend systems,” after earlier reports indicated that the home was not actively storing video footage due to subscription settings.
Two law enforcement sources confirmed that the FBI worked with Google to retrieve video data from a Nest camera system connected to Guthrie’s home.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously stated that the home’s doorbell camera was disconnected around 1:47 a.m. on February 1. At approximately 2:12 a.m., the system detected a person, but footage was initially believed to be unavailable.
Subject, Not a Suspect
Investigators emphasized that the individual shown in the images is being classified as a “subject” they are seeking to identify, not a suspect or person of interest at this stage.
“No suspects have been identified,” law enforcement sources said, adding that several vehicles captured on nearby surveillance cameras that night are still being traced.
Investigators have also removed a camera from Guthrie’s roof and towed her vehicle from her garage to examine it for fingerprints and other forensic evidence.
Savannah Guthrie Pleads for Help
Savannah Guthrie responded emotionally to the release of the new images, posting on social media:
“Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”

Over the weekend, Guthrie and her siblings released a video directly addressing those responsible for her mother’s disappearance, saying the family is willing to pay for her safe return.
“This is very valuable to us,” Guthrie said. “We will pay. Please return our mother to us.”
White House Reacts, Reward Offered
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that a scheduled press briefing was delayed Tuesday while she and President Donald Trump reviewed the newly released footage.
Leavitt said the president is urging anyone with information to contact authorities and added that “the prayers of the entire White House” are with the Guthrie family.
The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s recovery or a conviction in the case. Investigators noted that critical medication was left behind at her home, heightening concerns as the search enters its second week.
No Further Communication Reported
An apparent ransom note demanding payment in bitcoin surfaced earlier in the investigation, but the FBI said the most recent deadline passed Monday without any further communication.
“Someone has that one piece of information that can help us bring Nancy home,” an FBI spokesperson said. “We need that person to share what they know.”
Law enforcement continues to canvas Guthrie’s neighborhood, going door to door as the investigation remains active.
